Winter Doldrums....

Winter returned with a vengence last week, and we experienced the free flowing white gossamer flakes and the wet slippery yucky roads that go with it.  Seems just a week ago, I was lamenting that the winter photo ops were far and few between. Well, winter in Lower Michigan may be a little late this year, but we did not forget to jump on the bandwagon.  It did arrive. And now we are experiencing the wide temperature ranges that Michgan is famous for.  "They" say if you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes and it will change.  Well it did. Last week's sub zero temperatures gave way last night to temps in the 40s and rain.  It started out as freezing rain, but has turned to wet slush with gray unforgiving skies. But in the midst of it all, we did see a few rays of sunshine, with a promise of things to come.  Spring!  And I had my own ray of sunshine here as I photographed the mini daffodil.  Like the iris, it measures not much larger than my thumb, and was a delight.  Flowers are pure joy.  In their innocence, they stand tall and can be posed much like one would pose a human model for a photo session.  Except  - no bad hair day and no talking back.  (Just kidding.  I enjoy people too.)  But last Sunday afternoon, I spent about an hour with the daffodil, posing and positioning her so as to show her best side and came away with several images I liked, some of which I'm sharing with you here.    And later in the week, I noticed a new bud, so I waited and now she has a sibling, who I had the joy of photographing a couple of days ago.  So in the midst of our bipolar winter weather, just sit back and take comfort in the promise that spring is just around the corner.  And take time to enjoy and smell the flowers.   So.... until we meet again....

Thanks, Karen and Kathy. I know what you mean about Aldi's. I love their bouguets and have gotten some great deals. I appreciate you sharing that. I haven't been there in a while and it's a good reminder. :-)

I love photographing flowers in the winter, too! Just makes the day brighter.
I have found the nicest bouquets at the best price at Aldi's . . .I can usually
get them for $5 and under. Just sharing that :-)
See you sometime!
